So I have a question on Canadian political system. The Conservative Leadership position is currently vacant and apparently anyone that can fulfill the requirements is eligible to apply. You don't have to be a current MP. So my question is, if someone that isn't currently an MP runs for that office and he becomes the leader of the party, what happens? Does he automatically become a member of parliament or just a sitting member in the house or is he not in the house at all as the leader of the opposition party how is that even possible?
Second question, what happens at the next election? I assume he would have to contest. What if the sitting MP in his constituent is from his party. Does the person automatically step down or do they still go through primaries?
